Slat wall panels have become one of the defining interior details of the last couple of years — timber or MDF fins running horizontally or vertically, creating a rhythmic, textural surface that works in kitchens, living rooms, bedrooms, and commercial spaces. The lighting behind them is what decides whether the effect lands or falls flat.
Why COB matters here
The most common mistake is using standard SMD strip between the slats. Individual LED points, visible between each fin, undermine the clean, seamless look a slat wall is meant to have. COB avoids this: its continuous output gives the even wash of light that makes the fins read as one illuminated surface, rather than a row of separately-lit gaps.
The installation
Mount a recessed profile horizontally in the channel between each slat, or a surface profile at the base of each fin for a vertical run. An opal diffuser helps smooth the output further where the profile allows for one. Warm white (2700–3000K) suits most residential slat walls; natural white (4000K) tends to work better for commercial and retail settings.
Controls
