Slat Wall Lighting: How to Get the Look

Slat Wall Lighting: How to Get the Look

Slat wall panels have become one of the defining interior details of the last two years. Timber or MDF fins running horizontally or vertically, creating a rhythmic, textural surface that works in kitchens, living rooms, bedrooms, and commercial spaces. The lighting is what makes it sing or fall flat.

COB Is Non-Negotiable

The most common mistake is using SMD strips between the slats. Individual LED dots visible between the fins completely undermine the clean, seamless aesthetic. For slat wall lighting, COB is essential. The seamless output gives you the even wash of light that makes the fins read as a single illuminated surface.

The Installation

Mount a recessed profile horizontally in the channel between each slat, or a surface profile at the base of each fin running vertically. The opal diffuser gives the smooth, continuous output the effect requires. Use warm white (2700K–3000K) for residential — natural white (4000K) for commercial and retail.

Controls

OPTIX S+ with a CCT receiver gives you adjustable warmth for a slat wall that shifts with the light throughout the day. Dim to a warm glow in the evening, brighten for a working light when needed.
