Aluminium LED Profiles: A Complete Guide
A profile protects the strip, conducts heat, holds the diffuser, and gives a clean architectural finish that bare strips cannot match. For any professional or visible installation, profiles are not optional.
What a profile does
- Protects the LED strip from dust, impact, and damage
- Conducts heat away from the strip, extending its lifespan
- Holds an opal or clear diffuser to soften and spread the light
- Creates a clean, paintable, finished edge
Types
STRIA
Sits flush with the surface. Requires routing a channel. The most premium, invisible finish.
Shop STRIA →HAZE
Mounts onto any flat surface. No routing required. Best for retrofits and surface applications.
Shop HAZE →Diffusers
All Lumily profiles include an opal diffuser. Hides the strip completely and produces a continuous, even glow. Clear diffusers are available separately for maximum light output where full brightness is the priority.
For most visible installations, opal is the right choice — it eliminates hotspots and gives a clean, professional finish. Only choose clear if maximum lumen output is critical.
Lengths and cutting
Available in 1m and 2.5m lengths. Cut with a mitre saw or hacksaw. Deburr cut ends so the diffuser slides in cleanly.
Installation tips
- Cut the profile to length before fitting the strip
- Feed the driver lead through the end before mounting — far easier than threading it afterwards
- Secure with mounting clips or appropriate adhesive
- Fit end caps on all exposed ends for a finished look
